Hey! you accepted my invitation. Congratulations and welcome to our new online community!
Forty minutes for class does not afford time to hear, discuss, and/or develop your thoughts. So now, having had time to reflect on last week's class, please read the article referenced below (Adapting Teaching to a New Era), and take the time to tell me what you're thinking. I'll offer some guiding questions, however, I'm really interested in hearing your initial thoughts, concerns, excitement, misgivings, enthusiasm, etc., regarding our class discussions/questions re today's students and the suggested new ways to deliver content.
Guiding questions:
1. Are these new thoughts to you? Did anything surprise you?
2. Discuss the gap between the characteristics we listed of your students and your description of the "perfect" student.
3. We mentioned uses of technology (personal, presentation, student centered). Discuss the differences as you see them.
4. Teachers have long been asked to integrate the technology into the curriculum. Do you see how technology can benefit your curriculum? Are you satisfied w/ your skill level to do so? Does the request intimidate you?
5. Have you used Wordle? What possible benefit do you see using the tool w/ your students?
6. And I just have to ask: Did you by any chance use the students' cell phones in a lesson? Did you consider it?
